The branding of the New York Tech Valley region began in 1998 as a means to market the region's business opportunities
and quality of life to prospective individuals and businesses, with a specific focus on the rapidly expanding technology sector. The Tech
Valley Chamber Coalition was formed in 2002 and currently includes an 18-county area which stretches south to Orange County, north to Clinton
County, east to Rensselaer County and west to Hamilton County. The Tech Valley region contains more than 1,000 technology companies that employ
well over 50,000 people, generating an annual payroll of $2 billion and an economic impact of $5 billion.
