2010 Board Committees
Executive: Cheryl Bowers (Chair), Frank Flynn
(Chair-Elect) Terry Parisian (Vice Chair), Scott Herrington (Secretary),
Steve Sickler (Treasurer)
Audit
Mission statement: To conduct a review and analysis of the annual
audit. Members of the Executive Committee are excluded from serving
on this committee.
By Laws & Personnel (HR)
Mission statement: To conduct an annual review of the Chamber’s
By Laws and Personnel (HR) Policy.
Facilities
Mission Statement: To review the future office space needs of the
Chamber staff. The Committee will consider purchasing an existing
structure or building new space if adequate rental space is not available.
Finance
Mission statement: To review and monitor the finances of the Chamber
on a regular basis and to assist in developing an annual budget. The
Committee will also review investment policies on a regular basis and
develop a long term financial strategy.
Legislative Action
Mission Statement: To advocate for responsible economic development
in Ulster County by using the Template for Intelligent Growth. To
educate our members by conducting seminars and “shirtsleeve
sessions” relating to issues of interest under consideration at
the local, state or federal level. Should the Committee wish to
endorse a particular issue or project such recommendation will be
forwarded to the Chamber’s Board of Directors for its approval.
Membership and Marketing
Mission statement: To discuss and carry out appropriate methods to
increase and enhance Chamber membership. To assist in planning
membership drives and other events aimed at recruitment and retention
of members. To assist in developing marketing and promotion plans for
the Chamber including the annual Community Resource Guide &
Membership Directory.
Scholarship Golf Tournament
Mission statement: To conduct an annual golf outing to benefit the
Chamber’s Scholarship Fund.
Strategic Planning
Mission statement: To coordinate development of a two-to-five year
Strategic Plan and subsequent Program of Action. To monitor progress
and update the board at regular intervals regarding the initiatives
set forth in the Program of Action. Committee shall include the
Chairs of the following Standing Committees: Finance, Legislative
Action, Membership & Public Relations and Tourism.
Tourism
Mission statement: To improve and enhance tourism promotion efforts
by working with and supporting the Ulster County Tourism office and
the Ulster County Chamber Coalition.
Wing Fling Committee:
Mission statement: To schedule, plan, coordinate and conduct the
Chamber’s annual chicken wing contest.
